About the event
Beyond Point Protocols
Using the VAS & Living Auricular Protocols to Individualize Treatment
Amsterdam, Netherlands
September 19, 2026
9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Clinical Confidence • Prioritization • VAS
Most practitioners begin with protocols.
And protocols can be incredibly useful.
But sooner or later, we encounter a familiar challenge:
Two patients present with the same diagnosis.
One responds beautifully.
The other does not.
At that point, we begin asking a different question:
What is this person's nervous system trying to tell me?
This one-day intensive introduces two of the most powerful and accessible concepts in Integrative Auricular Medicine:
The Vascular Autonomic Signal (VAS)
Living Auricular Protocols (LAPs)
Together, these approaches help practitioners move beyond fixed treatments and develop greater confidence in prioritizing care according to what the body is asking for in real time.
Through practical demonstrations, hands-on exercises, and clinical case examples, participants will learn how to apply these principles to conditions such as:
Autoimmune Conditions
Anxiety & Depression
Addictions
More importantly, participants will develop a new way of thinking about Auricular Medicine:
A way of approaching the ear not simply as a collection of points, but as an ongoing conversation with the nervous system.
What You'll Learn
Foundations of the Vascular Autonomic Signal (VAS)
How to identify active priorities within a treatment
The principles behind Living Auricular Protocols

About the Instructor
Dave Maybee, RMT is the Director and Lead Instructor of the Canadian Institute of Auricular Medicine (CIAM). He has been studying and practicing Auricular Medicine since 2004 and teaching internationally since 2007.
Drawing from the work of Nogier, Bahr, Strittmatter, and Chinese Auricular traditions, Dave is known for his integrative approach that combines neurological understanding, resonance-based assessment, and the Vascular Autonomic Signal (VAS) to help practitioners develop greater clinical precision and confidence.
He has taught throughout North America and Europe, presented at international conferences including the International Auriculotherapy Symposium in Copenhagen, and will be presenting at the 2026 OGKA TAO Congress in Graz, Austria.
Dave maintains an active clinical practice in Nova Scotia, Canada, where he focuses on complex chronic and treatment-resistant cases. His passion is helping practitioners move beyond protocols and develop the ability to listen more deeply to what the nervous system is asking for in each individual patient.
